About Me!

Hi! I’m Sam.

I currently live in central Connecticut. I’m originally from here, but spent all of my school years growing up in Kansas, with summers and holidays spent visiting Connecticut. After high school, I moved back to Connecticut for college. I attended University of New Haven in West Haven, CT for my undergraduate criminal justice degree in forensic psychology. Shortly after graduating, I moved to Florida and worked as a probation/parole officer for the Department of Corrections in south Florida. After a few years working as a sworn law enforcement officer, as well as an officer in the criminal court in Florida, I realized that, for me, career fulfilment will come from working in a different field—mental health counseling. I decided to return to my home of Connecticut where I attended graduate school at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, CT and graduated with a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a state license as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, while working as a Public Safety Dispatcher for a local law enforcement agency. Now I hold a state license as a Licensed Professional Counselor and I am the Clinical Manager and Psychotherapist at The Alliance: Psychology, Advocacy, & Support—a private psychotherapy practice in Cheshire, CT. I enjoy helping people learn more about themselves, their emotions, the fields of psychology and criminal justice; but most of all I enjoy my role as an advocate for the LGBTQIA+ population, the forensic population, and anyone else who needs one.

Personally, I am a big people person. I enjoy meeting new people, traveling to new places, and learning about new cultures. With my love for travel I also enjoy experiencing new visions of nature and exploring them by hiking or kayaking. And as a true New Englander, I enjoy skiing, watching hockey, and the snow! I also have a love and dedication to animals. I am currently planning to begin the long process of therapy dog training for my dog, Kali. My love for animals extends onto most animals, but particularly horses. I have been around horses all throughout my life and find their presence therapeutic and rewarding.
